Ivan Lewis gives his full support to Save our Longfield Suite

Bury Council bosses have begun a review with the option to close the Longfield suite and use it for alternative purposes. Last week, along with approximately 100 residents, Ivan attended a meeting at the Longfield Suite for a meeting to discuss the review.

Although Bob Bibby, the council leader believes that civic suites are underused, local residents are outraged and have drawn up a petition called ‘Save Our Suite’ that has already collected over 1000 signatures. Many people use the suite and believe that it is an integral part of the community that needs to be saved.

Ivan Lewis is backing the campaign to save the under-threat Longfield Suite. He said:

“People have made their feelings clear. The council leadership is showing complete arrogance and ignorance by going down this road”
