Following talks with Whitefield GPs, Ivan is calling on local health bosses to deliver on their promise to build a new state of the art Health Centre in Whitefield.
Plans to build the centre in the next twelve months have been put on ice following planning problems relating to the Uplands location. Initially, planning permission was refused by Bury Council and now the costs in renovating a listed building on the site threaten the viability of the scheme. The centre was to be at the cutting edge of modern community health services. It is understood that a number of alternative options are under consideration to develop reduced facilities.
Ivan stated:
“Red tape should not be allowed to get in the way of Whitefield benefiting from a state of the art NHS facility. I am not prepared to see Whitefield get left behind as we see the success of the new Radcliffe Centre and exciting plans for a new NHS facility in Prestwich. I will be asking the new Chief Executive of Bury PCT to take urgent action to put the Whitefield Centre back on track.”
